Overview
A stationery label launching its first flagship range wanted a film that felt handmade but moved like cinema. Voxelmoth Studio answered with Paper Orbit: notebooks unfolding into landscapes, envelopes becoming birds, a whole solar system of desk-drawer objects in orbit.
Real paper was scanned, folded in CG, and lit like a Dutch still life — craft you can feel, at a pace broadcast slots demand.
The challenge
Paper is honest — bad folds read instantly. The film needed physically believable creases and fibers across dozens of hero objects, while keeping the schedule and render budget of a 45-second commercial.
The approach
Scans of the actual product line became the texture library, so every sheet on screen is the real stock. A shared fold-and-fiber shading system dressed every object consistently, and the edit was locked to the brand's launch track before animation began — music first, motion second.
Frames from the film
Grade stills from the finished master.
Deliverables & outcome
The 45-second master, 15- and 6-second cutdowns, vertical edits for social, and a stills kit that became the range's packaging photography. The launch film ran across the brand's site, stores and paid social.
Design note: Let folds, fibre and light carry the idea.
