Overview
The brief was simple and terrifying: hold a main-stage crowd for forty unbroken minutes with visuals that never repeat and never fight the music. Voxelmoth Studio grew a library of procedural botanical systems — petals, pollen, root networks — and performed them live, riding faders alongside the DJ.
Twelve composed "scenes" mapped to the set list gave the night an arc, while live parameters kept every drop genuinely one-of-one.
The challenge
Festival LED walls are enormous, unforgiving and daylight-bright at load-in. Content had to read at 60 meters, survive hue-shifting stage lights, and run for the full set without a single dropped frame or visible loop.
The approach
Everything was built from seedable systems rather than rendered clips: the same rig produced endless variation at full wall resolution. A rehearsal weekend with the lighting director locked palettes per track, and a redundant playback rig meant the show literally could not stop.
Frames from the set
Stills captured from the wall feed on the night.
Deliverables & outcome
Twelve performed scenes, a highlight edit for the festival's aftermovie, and a touring version of the rig that the artist's crew now runs themselves. The set closed the main stage both nights without a single technical stop.
Design note: Build variety from a focused palette of shapes, then leave room for the music.
